Finding your voice and breaking the silence can be an incredibly empowering and transformative moment in one's life. It takes immense courage to speak up and express your truth, especially after years of being silenced. I had to make a decision to no longer allow fear, guilt, and shame to hold me back from using my voice.​

Not until late adulthood did I decide to use my voice to share my experience and speak out about childhood sexual abuse. Doing so was empowering! My voice became a powerful tool in raising awareness, advocating for change, and supporting children. My belief in the importance for all children to find their voice reflects my deep understanding of the power of self-expression and speaking up against any form of abuse and injustice.

Everyone's journey is unique, and while the title of "survivor" does not resonate with me, I have learned that it's okay to choose how you define yourself and your experiences. Finding your own truth and using your voice to express it is a powerful act of determination and a source of strength.

As I continue on my journey of using my voice and living in my full truth, I try to remember to practice self-care, seek support when needed, and celebrate my resilience.

 

Each child's story and voice matters. I hope that my advocacy for finding one's voice can inspire and empower others. Keep speaking your truth and making a difference.
